The Rosewood Hotel Georgia ranks number 16 on list of Top 25 Hotels in the World

The Rosewood Hotel Georgia was recently awarded 16th place in Trip Advisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards for the Top 25 Hotels in the World.

The Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto was the only other Canadian hotel to make the list, and came in at 10th place.

“No. 16 in the world rating is very significant and it is a great recognition,” says Bernhard Wimmer, managing director for the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. “We are all very proud.”

Wimmer heard of the news while in Las Vegas, where the Rosewood Hotel Georgia received a five-star ranking from the Forbes Travel Guide.

“These two awards are worldwide awards and they will enhance the image and perception not only in Vancouver or in Canada, but worldwide,” he says.

Built in 1927, the Hotel Georgia is a Vancouver institution known as much for its famous guests, including Frank Sinatra, Catherine Hepburn and British royalty, as it is for its elegant and warm interior. Four years of extensive rennovations, totaling $120 million, where completed in 2011 to revive the 155-room hotel to its glory days. That same year, acclaimed Canadian chef David Hawksworth opened his namesake restaurant on the first floor of the hotel.

Wimmer believes that exemplary customer service and having an excellent product helped the Rosewood Hotel Georgia earn the awards. He points to the hotel’s location, history and interior as key factors. But what Wimmer is really proud of is his employees, who he says go above and beyond to ensure a positive guest experience.

“In the end, it’s the people who make it happen,” says Wimmer. “It is really the attitude of the employees who have a desire to make a guest feel recognized and want to touch our guests hearts.”
