30 Under 30 alum Nicholas Molnar’s company

You may have most recently read about Wantering in the BCBusiness 30 Under 30 issue, where its co-founder Nicholas Molnar was featured as one of B.C.’s rising entrepreneurial stars. Wantering is a fashion search engine that lists more than 1.1 million products and draws on more than 100 million “social signals” from across the web.

Yesterday the company announced the acquisition of U.S. fashion site StyledOn, which it claims is one of the most established social shopping communities and blogger networks on the web. The announcement is in tandem with the launch of the Wantering Insider Network, an invite-only community for style bloggers that integrates the company’s product data technology and social algorithm with digital publishers.

“StyledOn and Wantering share a common goal of making it easier to learn about the latest fashion trends,” said Matt Friesen, CEO of Wantering, in a release. “By combining StyledOn’s fashion community with Wantering’s technology and product data we can create far more engaging shoppable editorial content and offera fashion discovery experience that’s heads and shoulders above the competition.”

StyledOn founder and CEO Leora Kadisha will stay on as vice-president of business development, and Friesen says her knowledge of online shopping and digital media combined with her credibility in the fashion world will help to keep the company ahead of the curve.

StyledOn was backed by Omninet Capital, which will also be investing in Wantering’s
latest financing round. Wantering is backed by Yaletown Ventures, SK Ventures, BDC
Capital, and a group of angels.
