YVR Named Best in North America

YVR has once again proven itself as a favourite among passengers.

A customer survey has named YVR as North America’s best airport for the fourth straight year

Today it was announced that Vancouver International Airport was named as the Best Airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in Geneva, Switzerland.

Taking into account 39 different dimensions like efficiency, signage, passenger amenities and friendliness, 395 airports around the world were rated in the passenger-generated survey. Based on the 12 million passenger surveys collected, Skytrax’s airport rankings placed YVR 8th worldwide (up one spot from last year’s ranking), making it the only North American airport to crack the top 10. Topping the list is Singapore Changi Airport, and the next highest North American airport to appear on the list is Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, coming in at number 30.

This is not the first time Vancouver International Airport has been awarded Skytax’s top prize for North America—this year marks the fourth consecutive time it has earned top marks from the airline review site, which bills itself as the world’s largest.

“In an ever-competitive landscape, this award represents the hard work of airport staff and volunteers, our airline, retail and business partners and their commitment to continuously improve YVR’s facilities and customer experience,” said Vancouver Airport Authority president and CEO Larry Berg in a press release sent out today.

YVR is Canada’s second busiest airport, serving 17.6 million passengers in 2012.
