Two new surveys reveal that most Canadian workers say every day is casual Friday

Global financial recruitment service Robert Half Finance & Accounting has released two new surveys of Canadian workers’ attitudes toward business dress codes.

The first, conducted via telephone interviews with 270 CFOs from a stratified random sample of Canadian companies, found that 74 per cent said their accounting and finance departments have a somewhat or very casual dress code, 17 per cent said business attire guidelines have relaxed over the last five years, and just 12 per cent reported a more formal dress environment.

The second survey of more than 430 Canadian workers 18 years of age or older employed in office environments found that 63 per cent prefer more relaxed work attire, 28 per cent are sometimes unsure about whether clothing is office-appropriate, and 39 per cent would find it simpler to wear a uniform.
