BC Cancer Foundation’s 10th annual Inspiration Gala 2014

Almost 500 guests attended the 10th annual BC Cancer Foundation Inspiration Gala presented by Encana. The amount raised was $5 million, including a $1.5 million gift from Laurie Rix of the Rix Family Foundation, $1 million form Roche Canada and over $1 million during the live auction with proceeds supporting the BC Cancer Agency’s Personalized Onco-Genomics Program (POG).

Gala emcees included gala chair Tamara Taggart and Mike Killeen from CTV News at Six. The evening included a cocktail reception and a silent auction raffle, dinner with opening remarks by BC Cancer Foundation president and CEO Douglas Nelson, and the live auction. There was also a performance by internationally renowned jazz pianists Renee Rosnes and Bill Charlap.

Over nine years, the BC Cancer Foundation’s Inspiration Gala has invested $15 million to accelerate research in lung, pancreatic, breast, ovarian, brain, colorectal, lymphoid cancers and personalized medicine at the BC Cancer Agency.
