Disabled Skiers Association of B.C. members and distinguished guests gathered at the Sheraton Wall Centre to celebrate the association’s 40th anniversary. Guests heard from inspirational speaker and former B.C. Para-alpine Ski Team member Josh Dueck and DSABC co-founder Sue Hamilton.
The event had an array of memorabilia on display, including ten 2010 Vancouver Olympic torches, which were carried by various members of the association. DSABC president Kay Fulford announced that the association would be changing its name to B.C. Adaptive Snowsports and re-branding to better reflect the demographic it serves and the sports offered through its 13 clubs. The evening was rounded out with a live auction, which raised $25,000 in support of adaptive snow-sport programs throughout B.C.
