From shirts to totes to pendants, Paisley is everywhere again.

The kidney-shaped paisley pattern gets its name from a Scottish town, the foremost producer of Indian-style shawls in the early 19th century, but the motif is originally a third-century Persian religious symbol. While its popularity has ebbed and flowed throughout the years, in 1968 the Beatles’ spiritual tour of India made psychedelic versions of the pattern a symbol of that decade’s countercultural revolution. Now the pattern with the distinctive swirl is en vogue again, and adds a spirited touch to even the most staid business attire when worn in moderation.
