The Autograph Collection hotel is set to become Surrey’s premier hotel in the city’s emerging city centre

Marriott International’s Autograph Collection has been named the hotel partner for the $150-million-dollar 3 Civic Plaza in Surrey.

“Together with the City Centre Library, the new City Hall and 3 Civic Plaza, this hotel will be a defining fixture of our downtown,” says City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts.

Officially named the ‘Civic Hotel at 3 Civic Plaza, Autograph Collection,’ the 144-room hotel is expected to cater to the corporate and leisure markets. The hotel will have three styles of rooms, fitness and pool facilities, a lobby café, and a large fine dining restaurant on the main floor. It will also have a business centre, a large convention space and catering.

The largest private project in the emerging Surrey City Centre, 3 Civic Plaza is made up of residences, offices and the new Civic Hotel. It is Surrey’s first mixed-use hotel and residential project and is also Surrey’s first new high-rise hotel in more than two decades. Surrey is currently undergoing $2.2 billion in construction, which includes the 3 Civic Plaza, the new civic library, a new performance art centre and hospital expansion, among other projects.

“We saw 3 Civic Plaza and Civic Hotel as an opportunity to grow our esteemed collection and are thrilled to be working with Century Group,” says Manlio Marescotti, vice president of development for Marriott International, Inc.

3 Civic Plaza residences and offices will have access to hotel facilities, including the two-storey “glass box” lobby and the hotel roof, which will act as an amenity space.  The residences penthouses, upward of 2,200 square feet and priced close to $1.2 million, have sold out while smaller units starting at 510 square feet at approximately $220,000 are still available. The residences are one third sold with close to 75 per cent of those buyers intending to live, according to a salesperson.

The Civic Hotel will be a part of the Autograph Collection’s “Urban Excitement” hotels, which are located in big cities ranging from Prague to New York. Marriott International is one of the world’s largest and most recognized hotel operators and its Autograph Collection has nearly 50 properties worldwide.

3 Civic Plaza will begin construction in January 2014 with project completion expected in fall 2016.
