Tourism Tofino creates a virtual storytelling board of the Tofino experience

Why market yourself when others are more than happy to do it for you? With its new microsite,, which launched this week, Tourism Tofino has opened the floodgates for the leagues of Tofino enthusiasts—locals, weekend warriors and visitors alike—to do just that.

“We engage with our visitors regularly on various social media channels, and it’s easy to see that Tofino is a special place for so many people,” says Kirsten Soder, general manager of Tourism Tofino. “We’ll be encouraging users to share their experiences on throughout the year, allowing other travellers this user-generated perspective on what makes Tofino a compelling destination.”

As such, will become a virtual storyboard of the Tofino experience, aggregating all these stories into one place and feeding back to Tourism Tofino’s main website and branded social media pages.

With over 20,000 images on Instagram alone that are hashtagged Tofino—in addition to the interest shown on Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube (images of sunsets, family time on the beach, tasty meals, surf lessons and funny roadtrips pop up daily), the tiny town at the end of the road will truly be putting to the test the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words.
