More than 300 business and community leaders attended the inaugural Two Worlds Cancer Gala presented by Onni Group at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle and produced by SLJ Productions. A cocktail reception in the ballroom foyer was followed by dinner in the main ballroom. More than $565,000 was raised.

Minister of Environment Mary Polak spoke to guests followed by entertainment by Cole Page, a raffle draw by Toni Cavelti for a $24,000 necklace, remarks by Dr. Simon Sutcliffe of Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration and a live auction conducted by Tyler Olson of West Coast Auctions.

Two Worlds Cancer Collaboration is a nonprofit organization that works to improve cancer outcomes in the developing world where children with cancer lack ready access to care, medications or pain control. Three-quarters of the world’s cancer occurs in the developing world. While it is becoming a chronic disease in Canada, cancer is usually fatal in these countries.
