More than 500 guests attended the 33rd annual Splash gala presented by Blakes at Performance Works on Granville Island which raised $300,000 to provide accessible art education for young people all over Greater Vancouver. Arts Umbrella students performed for guests as they walked the red carpet outside and followed with a dance performance before the auction. Jeff Merrick, Blakes partner and Michael Lee, Arts Umbrella board chair, welcomed the guests, and CBC news personality Miyoung Lee emceed the gala.
Silent auction items were on display as well as 100 art pieces that went up for live auction at the end of the evening. The raffle prize showcase was a $5,000 gift certificate for Maison Birks. Culinary Capers Catering along with guest chef John Bishop provided a wide selection of delectable food throughout the evening.
Arts Umbrella's Splash helps more than 21,000 local kids take part in high-quality arts programming each year, providing free programs for thousands of children in underserved neighbourhoods. Arts Umbrella is a not-for-profit organization that relies on the support of Metro Vancouver's philanthropic community and has raised more than $5 million over 33 years.
