Finalists for the Vision to Reality (V2R) Awards, given out annually by PwC Canada, were announced this week, and four British Columbia organizations are in the running. The awards cover four different categories and named 20 nominees.

Each category has specific conditions that must be met in order to receive consideration. Nominees in the Visionary category are emerging companies or startups with up to $50 million in revenue. The Builder designation is given to organizations that are able to demonstrate a new idea that’s adding value to people, business or society register revenues between $50 million and $1 billion.

There’s also the Reinventor category for large enterprises with more than $1 billion in revenue, and a new category, the Accelerator, to honour public sector organizations of any size.

Representing B.C. on the list are Ballard Power Systems Inc. (Builder), a clean energy developer; online car loan company Canada Drives (Builder); mining giant GoldCorp Inc. (Reinventor); and the Civil Resolution Tribunal (Accelerator), which resolves small claims disputes under $5,000.

Winners and finalists get exposure and recognition as innovative Canadian organizations instead of traditional cash prizes.
