Just two local companies figured in the results

It’s going to be a hot long weekend. In that spirit, here’s to Lonetree Cider Co., which took home four prizes at the recent World Cider Awards in London. The Vancouver-based company won gold in the Flavoured/Fruits & Flower division for its Pear & Apple scrumpy, which also claimed Best Canadian honours for flavoured ciders. Meanwhile, that drink and Lonetree’s Ginger Apple Cider were Flavoured style winners in the Fruits & Flower and Herb & Spice categories, respectively.

The only other B.C. champ: Wards Hard Cider of Kelowna, for its Hard Apple Cider, taking a global silver in the Flavoured/Medium category.
