Real estate sales data for the week of October 6 to 12 sourced from real estate boards across the province by Zolo Realty
The priciest B.C. property sold last week has unobstructed views of the ocean
The most expensive property sold last week was in West Vancouver, fetching just over 85 percent of the $5.68-million list price, according to data analyzed by Vancouver-based Zolo Realty on behalf of BCBusiness. On 14,294 square feet of land in Sunset Beach north of Horseshoe Bay, the luxury waterfront home offers some 5,800 square feet of living space, including five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, plus a heated pool and jacuzzi spa, says Zolo director of content Romana King.
While the second-highest sale was in Central Okanagan—a single-family home that sat on the market for 230 days before selling for more than 89 percent of the $4.2-million asking price—the third-priciest was also in West Van. The 2,340-square-foot condo in Cypress Park Estates was completed this year and has floor-to-ceiling windows with unobstructed ocean views. Vancouver came in fourth: a five-bedroom, four-bathroom Kitsilano townhome on the market for 85 days before selling for 92 percent of the $2.82-million list price.
The property that took the longest to sell was a three-bedroom, two-bathroom single-family home in Osoyoos. Despite being listed for almost a year, it received more than 96 percent of the $379,000 list price.
Sales activity was a bit more tempered last week, possibly because of the holiday weekend, observes Zolo’s Romana King. Only 9 percent of properties tracked sold for 100 percent of list price or more, compared to 23 percent the previous week, and another 47 percent went for close to list price (between 90.0 and 99.99 percent). For the third week in a row, nothing sold for less than 75 percent of asking.

Sales data was obtained from B.C. real estate boards by Zolo Realty on behalf of BCBusiness. The type of information from each board may vary. Because real estate records are amended and updated daily, information is always changing, and it can take three months or longer to reflect final statistics.
Zolo was launched in Vancouver in 2012 by tech entrepreneurs Ryley Best, who had previously started and sold a U.K online dating site, and Jason Billingsley, who had helped found a business-to-business e-commerce operation. Looking for a new venture, the pair realized that real estate was ripe for disruption. Their primary interest was sales data, but to gain access and monetize it, they needed to be a licensed brokerage. The result was Zolo, headquartered in Vancouver, with offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Regina.
More than six million home shoppers a month start their search on Zolo.ca, which posts real estate tips and timely statistics, too. It also helps owners sell their homes, either on their own or through an agent.
