The B.C. Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) announced the finalists for the Technology Impact Awards (TIAs) at their annual TechBrew event Thursday evening.
Under the broad theme of “B.C.’s Mark on the World,” the BCTIA named a range of software, hardware, biotech and greentech companies.
While software companies made up the bulk of the nominees, stalwarts BC Hydro and Telus, and manufacturers Cooledge Lighting Inc. and dPoint Technologies Inc. rounded out the list. Around two hundred attendees showed up for the networking event, which showcased eight local technology companies before announcing the nominees.
“The 2013 TIA finalists illustrate the continuing maturity of the B.C. technology industry,” said BCTIA president Bill Tam, in a statement. “It’s easy to see why Vancouver and B.C. continue to gain global recognition as the place to start and grow a tech company.”

Most innovative product: Cooledge Lighting Inc., for its LED light sheets; dPoint Technologies Inc., for its humidifier technology; Elastic Path, for its e-commerce software.
