Emily Carr to offer Master of Design.

Building on its successful Bachelor of Design degree, Emily Carr University of Art + Design will launch a Master of Design—the first of its kind for B.C.—this fall

Emily Carr University of Art + Design will be offering a new Master of Design Degree through its Faculty of Graduate Studies beginning in September 2013. The degree is a first for B.C., and according to the university “addresses an important need for advanced deisgn education regionally.”

In a press release, the presitigious art school—whose Bachelor of Design degree was last year ranked #11 in the world by the Red Dot Organization (the only Canadian design school to be named in the ranking)—detailed that the degree will be a full-time, research-oriented package. The nature of the degree is described by the school as “challenging the status quo and addressing the continually disruptive nature of design studies by recontextualizing, remizing and reframing design—culturally, ecologically and theoretically.”

The Master of Design is a two-year program.
