Gesamtkunstwerk Launch Party
Gesamtkunstwerk Exhibition Space
March 21, 2014

A select group of Vancouver architects and business leaders were invited to the official launch of Gesamtkunstwerk, presented by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) of Copenhagen and New York, and Ian Gillespie of Westbank Projects Corp. Westbank developed a curated exhibition inside a former storage locker facility, featuring the LEED Platinum Vancouver House display, set to begin construction soon at the foot of the Granville Street Bridge.

Guests mingled to a flow of wine and hor d’oeuvres, with live jazz followed by an introduction by Ian Gillespie, Westbank Projects president, and remarks by Bjarke Ingels.

Westbank has developed a curated exhibition on city-building to provide Vancouverites and visitors a unique opportunity to see how Vancouver has developed, and look behind the scenes at the city-building process. Gesamtkunstwerk, a German word translated to mean “life as a total work of art,” is the embodiment of Westbank’s work in developing total projects. Westbank is one of North America’s leading real estate developers, creators of the acclaimed Fairmont Pacific Rim, Woodward’s building, and Toronto and Vancouver Shangri-La Hotels.
