In November, David Frum, the Toronto-born former speechwriter for George W. Bush and now senior editor at The Atlantic, told attendees of real estate brokerage CBRE Ltd.’s Vancouver Real Estate Strategy and Leasing Conference that NAFTA is probably here to stay, and there is little that President Donald Trump can do about it.

That’s good news for companies polled by BDO Canada LLP, which found that two thirds of the 245 Canadian business owners surveyed aren’t making contingency plans, even though 86 per cent believeTrump will exit NAFTA or try to negotiate unfairly in favour of U.S. interests.

On the other hand, a poll of B.C. business owners conducted by Mustel Group for BCBusiness last winter found that most are unaffected by NAFTA.
