Governments scrambling over each other to collect taxes from marijuana sales

As the federal government moves toward legislation that will effectively legalize marijuana, provincial and municipal branches are seeking a share of the tax dollars that will be charged on the substance.

Liberal MP Bill Blair announced that the federal and provincial governments would be splitting the tax revenue 50-50, but the Federation of Canadian Municipalities has also entered the discussion, sending a letter to Finance Minister Bill Morneau.

Some reports have also had the provincial government less than thrilled with the 50-50 arrangement.
