After Vision Vancouver’s Ian Campbell dropped out of the mayoral race last night, it’s fair to ask what’s next for the city’s current ruling party.
It’s unclear if Vision will even run a mayoral candidate after Campbell’s decision, though it seems intent on sticking with its slate of councillors and parks and school board candidates who are seeking election.
While it’s not rare to see a party succumb to public backlash after 10 straight years in power, it would be a shock to see Vision not run a candidate in the October 20 contest.
However, the writing has been on the wall since last October’s byelection, when Vision Vancouver’s Hector Cardona placed fourth.
