Taj Express and Don’s Smokies are both on the Surrey Food Truck Program’s list of approved vendors, but neither has social media or a website for consumers to track their location.
This past weekend Food Cart Fest came to Surrey’s Holland Park for the first time, featuring more than 15 food trucks from Vancouver and from Surrey’s new Food Truck Program. The original launch date was set for July 5, but was then delayed to August 2. It was postponed once more, and having finally completed its inaugural day on August 9, the weekly event will continue for the next three Saturdays, concluding on August 30. Surrey City Council received a request for a food truck program in 2012, but it wasn’t until May 12, 2014—after conducting research, consulting key stakeholders and developing program logistics—that council approved the implementation of a program. Click through the gallery above to see the 10 approved vendors that will be at this summer’s Food Cart Fest as well as operating within Surrey as part of its Food Truck Program.
