The skinny: Five-bedroom, seven-bathroom, 6,218 square foot house on 13,800 square feet near UBC.

The bling: Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? We found her! Right here, playing a piano in the foyer for some reason. It’s not the only odd thing waiting to be found in this massive cream-coloured mansion, though. Some of these pictures look like frames from a Yorgos Lanthimos film, with the huge curtains and old school luxe furniture juxtaposing with the hard whites and silvers of modernity.

The exterior is an exercise in the past as well. Looking at the front and back entrances to this place, you wouldn’t have the slightest idea that Vancouver is in a housing crisis. The long lawns and walkways are absolutely essential, as is that random clump of grass that has probably never been used in any capacity.

And then, of course, there are the chandeliers. The designer of this house must have been like Christopher Walken in the “More Cowbell” SNL sketch as they moved from room to room insisting that each one had to have a chandelier. I count nine (!) total chandeliers in this place. There’s even one in the bathroom and two in the kitchen about three feet away from each other.

My favourite room has to be the one just off the hallway that’s adorned with wine bottles (forget the cellar!), two stools, a table and, of course, a chandelier. Now that’s fancy.

The hidden extras: Spa-like master ensuite with jacuzzi tub and steam shower, home theatre, three-car garage.
