Our best finds at the Oak + Fort Vancouver warehouse sale

Our editors share their favourite picks of this week

The annual Oak + Fort warehouse sale is back. If anyone’s looking for an excuse to start shopping for fall (or to leave work early), this is it. With everything up to 80 percent off between August 24-27 (including women’s and men’s apparel, accessories, homeware, etc.), our editors made their way to Canada Place and came home with some pretty sweet deals.

Here’s what we got.

Patterned intarsia sweater, $25

Oak + Fort as a brand seems pretty devoted to basics—the warehouse sale is white, black and brown aplenty. I, on the other hand, am drawn to colour and pattern (so much so that my sister has made a habit of pointing at thrift store sofas and saying “that looks like a shirt you have”).  So for me, the warehouse sale was an I Spy of wacky prints and eye-catching hues. This groovy sweater beckoned to me from a sea of beige. It was $88 at regular price, and I bought it for $25. Who’s laughing now?

Satin butterfly sleeve midi dress, $35

It’s no secret that I always end up with neutral colours. And in a convention centre completely stacked with clothes on sale, I stayed true to myself by picking out this silver sage dress that definitely passes for brown/bronze. It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but definitely a steal: the pre-sale value is $80 and it can be dressed up or down for most occasions—events, dinners, birthdays, etc.

Barrette, earrings and kitchen brushes, $16

I got a small haul from the Oak + Fort warehouse sale, but I love it all! I picked out a beautiful pair of matte gold hoop earrings with pearl details for myself. They’re lovely and light and I’ve been wearing them on the daily since I got them. For my 11-year-old daughter, I picked up some cool hair accessories. The thin, pearl-toned barrette can be paired with anything in her wardrobe, and I love that the cool black-and-white clip echoes her iconic checked Vans slip-ons when she’s feeling her punk vibes. I jokingly told my husband that the cute little kitchen brushes (in soft grey and pale green) are for him so that he can scrub the dishes in style.

Full length twill wide leg pant, $30

I went to the Oak + Fort warehouse sale with one mission and one mission only: to get a pair of pants. I wasn’t exactly sure what kind of pants I was looking for but I knew I wanted them to be wider in the leg (sorry skinny jeans, TikTok says you’re DONE!) I tried on a few different styles and pairs but when I found these cream beige slacks, I knew I would like them even before trying them on—so I didn’t! Brave, I know. But sometimes when you know, you know. I also felt assured they would be good because the waist had a ruching elastic band in the back and usually my struggle with pants comes down to the waist. Armed with my baggy white elastic-waist ankle-length pants and the resolve that “the greater the risk, the bigger the reward,” I made my purchase—to be fair, the risk was mitigated substantially by a price tag of $29.99! But, when I got home and finally tried them on, the reward was clear: I had found my new fave pair of pants!(Until I inevitably spill on them.) (But hey, I knew the risks!)
