Coulson Ice Blast was recently honoured at the R&D 100 Awards in Orlando, Florida. Port Albernibased Coulson’s invention, the IceStorm90, is an industrial cleaning machine that runs on crushed ice instead of liquid water.
Coulson joins a slew of major players in the top 100, such as General Motors Co., IBM Corp. and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. R&D Magazine has bestowed the awards for the past 55 years to celebrate innovations in science and technology.
“To dream about developing a product, and then watch as it’s created and then honoured by such a prestigious organization as the R&D 100 Awards, really validates all the sleepless nights, hard work and creativity it took to get our ice blasting technology to where it is today,” said Foster Coulson, CEO of Coulson Ice Blast.
“This award and acknowledgment show that it’s not about the size of a company or where it’s located,” Coulson added. “It’s about dreaming big and having the courage to pursue that dream and make it a reality.”
Coulson Ice Blast is an offshoot of the Coulson Group of Companies, which started as a logging company in 1960 but has since moved into aviation and other industries. The business launched in 2015 after Coulson Group bought Universal Ice Blast, based in Kirkland, Washington, and redeveloped its technology.
