TED’s Chris Anderson on Why He Chose Vancouver

In his first Vancouver appearance since announcing that the city will host the 2014 and 2015 event, TED curator Chris Anderson tells an exclusive group of invitees why he chose their city.

After a cavalcade of introductions, thank yous and cheerleading by representatives from Tourism Vancouver, the CTC and the provincial government—there was even a message from noted TED speaker and Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield—the man behind the technology, entertainment and design conference known as TED took the stage. Chris Anderson spoke about how “nature inspires” and the city’s commitment to green, sustainable living. But ultimately he referred to the city’s x factor—that intangible something that convinced him to relocate from California for the event’s 30th anniversary in 2014 and 2015 as well.
