Christopher Gaze is the founding artistic director of Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival, which celebrates its 30th season in 2019. He hosts the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s popular Tea & Trumpets series and has hosted its annual traditional Christmas concerts for the past 26 years.
Christopher plays a leading role in British Columbia as an advocate for the arts in general, and his passionate dedication to Bard on the Beach has fuelled its growth into one of the largest professional theatre companies in Canada, drawing more than 1.9 million patrons since he founded it in 1990.
Paul Budra is professor and chair of English at Simon Fraser University. He is the author of A Mirror for Magistrates and the de casibus Tradition and Shakespeare Early and Late: A Textbook. He is the co-editor of the essay collections Part Two: Reflections on the Sequel; Soldier Talk: Oral Narratives of the Vietnam War; From Text to Txting: New Media in the Classroom; and Shakespeare and Consciousness. He has published articles on Shakespeare and early modern literature as well as contemporary popular culture. He is a past president of the Pacific Northwest Renaissance Society. He is on the editorial boards of the journals Early Theatre and Connotations: A Journal of Critical Debate, and on the advisory board of Punk and Post-Punk.
