YWCA Metro Vancouver reveals 106 nominees for its 41st annual Women of Distinction Awards

Award recipients will be announced at a gala in Vancouver on May 13, 2024

Every year, nonprofit organization YWCA Metro Vancouver holds a fundraising event to honour change-makers in B.C. The Women of Distinction Awards, presented by Scotiabank, celebrates individuals and organizations working to make a difference in their communities, and since 1984, it has nominated over 2,000 people and named over 350 winners.

The 41st edition of the program includes 106 nominees across 12 categories, featuring powerhouses like 2023 BCBusiness Women of the Year winner Karen Dosanjh, VP of marketing at OSI Digital (for the Business & the Professions category); Young Gun Christina Wong, co-founder and executive director of local charity Employ to Empower (for the Community Champion award), and 2019 30 Under 30 winner Mia Fiona Kut, founder and CEO of haircare brand Luna Nectar (for Entrepreneurship & Innovation). Winners will be announced at the Women of Distinction Awards gala at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver on May 13, 2024.

All current nominees are also eligible for the same program’s Connecting the Community award. This award is subject to public votes and the winner gets to donate $10,000 (courtesy of Scotiabank) to a YWCA program of their choice. The voting portal on the website is open from March 8 to April 12.

Last year’s awardees include 2022 Women of the Year runner-up Jeanette Jackson and 2023 Youth Entrepreneur of the Year winner Sang Le.
