Amazon To Open Massive Vancouver Office

TELUS Garden is expected to be complete in 2015 and will house TELUS, Bull Houser and Amazon

The Seattle-based e-commerce giant commits to a 91,000 square-foot space with room for 1,000 employees

Amazon has committed to a whopping 91,000 square-foot lease in Telus Garden, the 22-storey planned tower on West Georgia, according to a report from Techvibes. The company committed to lease nearly a fifth of the commercial office space million square-foot development.
 
According to Tech Vibes, Amazon has leased a 91,000 square foot space and is planning to open office space with room for as many as 1,000 employees in Telus Garden, citing a vice president at Colliers International. The company, which currently operates a smaller development office in Yaletown, would have an option on another 156,000 square-feet. Possession is scheduled for 2015, when the $750-million project is completed. 
 
In a statement emailed to BCBusiness, Robertson said, “Amazon creating such an impressive number of new jobs represents a major boost to Vancouver’s economy and our city’s fast-growing technology sector. This news is yet another strong example of how Vancouver is emerging as an innovation powerhouse.”
 
Amazon is currently hiring around 70 software development engineers, and a smaller numbers of program and product managers for its Downtown office, in addition to positions at its distribution facility in Delta.
