Greater Vancouver Board of Trade brings Michelle Obama to Vancouver on February 15
The Greater Vancouver Board of Trade has invited former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama to speak at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
“Our organization is honoured to provide a platform for distinguished dignitaries and thought leaders such as Michelle Obama to share their insights directly with British Columbians,” said GVBOT president and CEO Iain Black in a release.
In the same release, Anne Giardini, chair of the GVBOT and chancellor of SFU, called Obama “a role model for millions of women and an inspiring speaker.” Obama is involved with numerous causes, including Let Girls Learn, a U.S. government effort to ensure that adolescent girls around the world can access education, which she launched in 2015.
When the GVBOT hosted invited former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton to speak at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in March 2014, 2,781 people attended the sold-out event.
Advance tickets, for GVBOT members only, will be available for purchase between January 10 and 17. Tickets go on sale to the general public on January 18.
