One Last Thing: Kyle Washington

Kyle Washington | BCBusiness

The Seaspan executive chairman is as renowned for his business instinct as his jet-setting. If you want to do business with him, the rules are simple: don’t call him and don’t ask him out for coffee

What is your favourite destination for business? Our companies work in so many countries and jurisdictions. I like coming home to Vancouver the most.

What do you never travel without? Eboost! A super-immunity energy vitamin drink.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “Hold on, I’ll call you right back.”

What do you consider your greatest achievement? They are yet to come.

What is your greatest regret? I have a few, but I look forward to not making the same ones over again.

On what occasion do you lie? When appropriate.

What is your mobile phone of choice? You can take my BlackBerry out of my cold dead hands.

What is your greatest fear? I feel like a wimp, but I’m totally claustrophobic.

What is your greatest extravagance? Private jets. They make no sense whatsoever, but I love them.

Which business figure do you most identify with? I love the people with big personalities who are making money and still trying to do good for the rest of the world, like Frank Giustra and Chip Wilson.

What is the trait you most deplore in a colleague? When people talk down to others.

How do you travel to work? Work travels with me—I don’t travel to work.

What’s your preferred method of communication? I just use email and text.

Come into the office early or stay late? With today’s devices you are always in your office—even in your bed, unfortunately.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Too many answers, but great family, great friends and great food.
How do you take your coffee? No coffee, only Eboost!
