April 29, 2013

This annual black-tie gala brings together business, government and community leaders to induct The Vancouver Board of Trade’s immediate past chair into its Council of Governors. Wendy Lisogar-Cocchia, president and CEO of Century Plaza Hotel and Absolute Spa Group, was inducted as a governor and Terence Hui, president and CEO of Concord Pacific Properties, was presented with the Rix Award for Engaged Community Citizenship for his leadership and community contributions. Telus was also presented with the Rix Award for Engaged Corporate Citizenship, recognizing the company’s commitment to building healthy, vibrant communities.

Over 750 guests mingled at a reception prior to the awards and took part in a silent auction. The head table was led into the ballroom by bagpipers in a ceremony of pomp and circumstance as guests settled in for the awards ceremony.

The late well-known philanthropist Dr. Rix founded the Rix Center for Corporate Citizenship and Engaged Leadership at The Vancouver Board of Trade during his term as chair, in 2008. Its purpose is to promote and facilitate the engagement of businesses and individuals in activities that add value to both business and the broader community.
