More than 450 guests enjoyed an elegant evening honouring Peter R.B. Armstrong and celebrating his commitment to making a difference in our community. For over a decade, Armstrong has donated millions toward a wide spectrum of causes centred on community growth and child development. A leading figure in the tourism industry, Armstrong is well-known to British Columbians as the entrepreneur who built the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer rail tours, named by National Geographic as “one of the World’s Greatest Trips.”

Armstrong has donated over $3 million to more than 200 organizations, with a focus on education and medical research. Emceed by Peter Legge, the evening featured a three-course dinner, live entertainment and guest speakers, and raised over $400,000 for Variety.

The Golden Heart Award is Variety, The Children’s Charity’s most prestigious mark of distinction, honouring individuals and organizations that have made exceptional philanthropic contributions throughout British Columbia.
