More than 1,000 people attended the B.C. Technology Industry Association’s Impact Awards to celebrate the newly crowned winners. Members of the technology community walked the red carpet, sipped champagne and mingled in the sun-drenched foyer prior to entering the ballroom for the awards show, which is considered one of the province’s biggest technology galas.

Local entrepreneur Warren Roy and enterprise data security company Layer 7 Technologies were awarded top honours as Person of the Year and Company of the Year, respectively. A serial entrepreneur, Warren Roy is the CEO and founder of Global Relay, an electronic-message archiving company that services the global financial services sector. Roy was recognized for the astounding growth trajectory of his company, which added over 200 employees and $30 million in annual revenues. “Layer 7 and Global Relay exemplify the world-class companies that we are creating here in B.C.,” said BCTIA president and CEO Bill Tam.
